Projects We’ve Completed for Clients
Case 1: Mining Customer in Brazil (Wear Issue)
We previously worked with a customer in Brazil who was involved in mining conveying equipment maintenance.
They approached us with a very practical issue — the metal bushings they were using were wearing out too quickly.
Basically, they had to replace them every 2–3 months.
It was not that they were unusable, but they were “difficult to use” in practice, because every replacement required downtime, which increased overall maintenance costs.
At that time, we did not immediately recommend materials through ceramic machining service, but first asked several questions.
For example:
Was the wear mainly caused by impact or particle abrasion?
Was the temperature high?
What type of material was in contact?
After confirmation, the main issue was particle wear rather than impact fracture.
So the solution we provided was straightforward: replacing the metal parts with high-purity alumina bushings (above 99%) as custom ceramic parts.
The reason was simple:
High hardness (much higher than steel), strong resistance to particle wear, and more controllable cost compared to some high-end materials.
After implementation, the feedback was:
The service life increased from 2–3 months to nearly one year.
It was not that the ceramic parts did not wear, but the wear rate became much slower, significantly improving overall performance.
Case 2: German Customer (High-Temperature Furnace Tubes)
We also worked with a German customer specializing in industrial furnace equipment.
Their issue at the time was that metal tubes would gradually deform under high temperatures.
It was not a sudden failure, but after a period of operation:
dimensions started drifting, and stability decreased.
For them, this was more troublesome than a complete failure.
We confirmed several key factors with them before providing a ceramic machining service solution.
For example:
The operating temperature was above 1000°C
There was no frequent thermal shock
Long-term stability was more important
Based on this, we did not recommend silicon carbide, but instead suggested using high-purity alumina tubes as custom ceramic parts.
The reasons were:
Alumina offers better dimensional stability at this temperature range
Unlike metals, it does not undergo plastic deformation
It provides more stable performance over long-term operation
After implementation, the most noticeable change was not simply improved durability, but that the system became more stable and required less frequent adjustment of ceramic parts during operation.
Case 3: Korean Automation Equipment Customer (Precision Issue)
We also worked with a Korean customer in the automation equipment industry.
Their issue was quite typical: using metal washers resulted in unstable assembly accuracy.
At first, they thought it was a machining problem, but in reality:
small dimensional variations combined with thermal expansion caused deviations after assembly.
We reviewed their drawings and application conditions before providing a ceramic machining service solution.
We found that this was a typical “precision + stability” issue, so we recommended switching to zirconia washers as custom ceramic parts.
At the same time, we did two things:
performed precision ceramic machining on critical dimensions and controlled surface roughness through ceramic grinding.
Why zirconia? Because:
it has better toughness (less chipping), better thermal stability, and is more suitable for precision structural components.
The most obvious feedback from the customer was:
after assembly, the system became more stable, and repeated adjustments were no longer required for the ceramic parts.
